We dragged our butts into the hotel lobby to ask about alternative modes of transport, and were THRILLED (no, really, we were THRILLED!!!) to learn that the city bus system was a very good one. As well as The Strip, we could ride all over the area. A pass for the NEXT 4 DAYS, 24 hours a day, could be had for $20.00 per person!!! "The Deuce" (double-decker, air-conditioned, clean!) is by far the BEST deal in Las Vegas. I highly recommend it, even if you ARE in shape!
By this time, it's 5pm, and we are in NO condition to leave the premises. As it is, the walk from the lobby to our room seems daunting, so we just belly up to the bar for those 2-for-1 Margaritas and settle in. Once we felt a little refreshed, we figured, what the heck, let's go to the Circus. There is a one-act show every 30 minutes in the Big Top, smack in the middle of the hotel casino. The circus 'ring' is surrounded by a carnival midway, and the place is TEEMING with kids...all of whom would much rather be at Disney World, "but my parents made me come here instead, and I will never forgive them as long as I live."
Surprisingly, the act that we saw was quite good! A very pretty young woman acrobat entertained us for a full 15 minutes. Just right.
We finished up the evening playing a few slot machines. I put a $5 bill into a dollar machine and won $62.00, so it was a good time to retire for the night.
We were asleep by 8:30pm.

Tomorrow: Day Two Begins
Las Vegas is a place I am guaranteed to lose weight while on vacation. Yes, there are voluminous amounts of food to eat there, and, yes, I do eat big, but the amount of walking I do while there is enough to drop the calories plus more. It is the damnedest city for putting entirely out-of-perspective the real distances between objects.
ReplyDeleteAnd now, having actually read both posts, I can see I should have given you advice other than gambling advice for your trip. I might have been able to save you a walk or two, or perhaps a couple of bucks on the taxi, or maybe pointed you in the direction of the best buffets, or something... But, I'll wait for the next few days report. Perhaps you figured it all out, anyway. If you had a good time, that's all that matters!
