This is a big travel year for me. Some of the planned trips are for pleasure, some for 'business' (promoting my artwork), and some for work (more about this 'work' in a future postcard).
I will be racking up the Frequent Flyer Miles! It's possible I will even get to visit YOU!
I have never been overly fond of air travel...the long waits in airports, the lack of 'elbow room' on the plane, getting chosen for the "Extra Security Measures" (it never fails --- even when I'm with a group!) and peanuts, always peanuts.
One thing I LIKE about flying is seeing this beautiful country from a different perspective. When I can, I request a window seat. Sometimes the view thru the airplane window is heavenly (the tops of the clouds make me feel angelic). Sometimes it's awe inspiring (The Mississippi River and the Grand Canyon are true spectacles!) And sometimes, the view takes your breath away.
My last flight delivered such a view. I looked out to see the newly-risen full moon sparkling on the Chesapeake Bay and reflecting off the airplane's wing. The Sun had just barely set, so the colors in the sky were incredible. I was captivated for some minutes, then finally thought "Kodak Moment!!!"
Naturally, my camera was in my bag, under the seat in front of me.
By the time I fished it out, turned it on, and focused, the Chesapeake, and the award-winning shot that I have always dreamed of capturing, were long gone.
But I snapped anyway. And the picture shown on this postcard is one of the results. Not fantastic --- but representative of the feeling I get when sitting in the window seat.
Until I see you,
xoxoxo, cd
